dated October 11, 1956: Mahtab to be Orissa CM

Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab, now Governor of Bombay, was on October 9 elected leader of the Orissa Assembly Congress Party to succeed Mr. Nabakrushna Chaudhuri. Dr. Mahtab is expected to take up the Chief Ministership by October 20. Earlier, the party accepted the resignation of Mr. Nabakrushna Chaudhuri, who announced that he had resigned to devote his whole time to constructive work.
