PSPB inter-unit badminton

HYDERABAD: The 28th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board all-India inter-unit badminton championship, sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation, will be held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium here from October 11 to 15, Pullela Gopi Chand, former All England champion and India's chief National coach, said.Gopi, who will not be playing in the event, told the media on Tuesday that the top shuttlers of the country including Abhinn Shyam Gupta, Chetan Anand, Arup Sridhar, Arvind Bhatt in the men's section and Aparna Popat, Trupti Murgunde, Shruthi Kurien and Jwala Gutta in the women's section will be seen in action in the event which features competitions in singles and doubles besides team championship in both the men and women's sections.

There is a separate veterans section too.

Gopi thanked the IOC for coming forward to host the event and also being in the forefront in giving scholarships of Rs.5000 each per month to young talent in cricket, chess, golf, hockey, badminton, table tennis and tennis.
