Amar Singh, Jayalalithaa discuss political situation
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh met AIADMK general secretary and the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Jayalalithaa, on Tuesday and discussed the "possibility of the formation of a non-Congress and non-BJP Government at the Centre on a long-term basis."
"We discussed national politics. The AIADMK leader said that elections in Uttar Pradesh were crucial to national politics and wished the Samajwadi Party well," Mr. Singh told The Hindu after the meeting.
Modalities discussed
Mr. Singh said: "We also discussed the modalities to work together since the Samajwadi Party, the AIADMK, and the Telugu Desam Party, led by Chandrababu Naidu, form a sizable number in the Rajya Sabha."
The meeting with Ms. Jayalalithaa was cordial, and she showed a keen interest in the national polity, he said.
