Kozhikode: Kozhikode District and Sessions Judge Thomas P. Joseph inaugurated the programmes organised in connection with the observance of the World Mental Health Day jointly by the Legal Services Authority and the Government Mental Health Centre at the Government Mental Health Hospital Hall at Kuthiravattom here on Tuesday. This year the theme was `Building awareness reducing risks: suicides and mental illness.' M.T.Harish, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Medical College Hospital spoke on the subject. P. Kumarankutty, lawyer, spoke on the subject, `Right of mentally ill patients law and mental health.' Nehru Yuva Kendra, District Literacy Mission, National Service Scheme, Association of Panchayat Members and nursing students participated in the programmes. Kozhikode district panchayat president K.P. Kunhammedkutty presided over the inaugural session. Chief Judicial Magistrate E. Francis delivered the keynote address. The Kozhikode City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay, Mental Health Centre Superintendent Madhava Das and Calicut Bar Association president K.P.Palaninatha Panicker spoke on the occasion.
