KOZHIKODE: The Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) has demanded action against doctors involved in the alleged irregularities reported at District Hospital. An emergency meeting of the Kozhikode chapter of the association here said it would not stand in the way of punitive action against those found guilty of taking bribe. The meeting expressed grave concern over reports which highlighted instances of corruption at the hospital causing hardship to the poor. However, the KGMOA warned that newspaper reports and public campaigns against offences committed by a few Government employees would demoralise the Government machinery if blown out of proportion. "A majority of the doctors posted in the hospital are honest, hardworking and dedicated. They should not be demoralised and maligned for deviant behaviour of a few of their colleagues," the association said. The KGMOA issued a statement to this effect in response to reports by a Malayalam TVchannel.
