`Dynamic entrepreneur'

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat expressed grief at the sudden death of industrialist and Rajya Sabha member Lalit Suri on Tuesday.

In a message to his wife, the Vice-President described Mr. Suri as a prominent industrialist who personified the dynamism and enterprise of India. "As a distinguished member of Parliament he voiced his concerns on many issues of lasting public importance and made a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. The country has lost a dynamic entrepreneur and eminent parliamentarian."

Painful, says Buddhadeb

Kolkata Special Correspondent reports:

"It is painful," West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said expressing shock at the death of Mr. Suri.

Mr. Suri's company last year took over the country's oldest "European" hotel, the state-run Great Eastern Hotel, located in Kolkata. It would be renamed "Grand Great Eastern Hotel," he announced then.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over the future of the hotel.
