PANAJI: The Bombay High Court in Goa on Tuesday directed the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to close down all polluting companies at Cuncolim industrial estate in south Goa with immediate effect. The court order comes in the wake of a public interest litigation petition filed by Oscar Martins of Cuncolim. It has directed South Goa Collector and Goa Industrial Development Corporation to ensure strict compliance with the closure notices. It has also directed polluting companies to deposit Rs. 50,000 each within three days to cover the costs of study to NEERI.
