Action sought on assailants of girls

Mahila Samakhya threatens agitation

KURNOOL: Leaders of Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samakhya, affiliated to the CPI, held a demonstration at the office of the Superintendent of Police here on Tuesday demanding stringent action against those responsible for the rape and murder of minor girls.

The Samakhya's State president P. Padma and district general secretary A. Narayanamma met Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddy and presented a memorandum to him seeking action against the culprits responsible for the crime.

The SP told the leaders that the accused would be arrested in a few days and the investigation was nearing completion.

Earlier, the leaders said such shocking incident occurred because of the lenient attitude of the authorities towards child labour problem. A large number of had people migrated because of lack of work. If the district administration did not take up suitable measures, the Samakhya would launch State-level agitation, they said.

Later, the leaders visited Pampalli where Yasoda and Syamala were murdered. Mahila Sangham leader Jyothi also visited the place.
