Earlier, District BC Welfare Officer Sanjay Prabhakar explained to the house panel that 14,207 students were staying in 92 hostels. On an average Rs. 338 each per month was being spent on the students till class 7 and Rs. 412 per month on students in class 10. The committee wanted the administration to give preference to the students of Government colleges in sanction of scholarships.
