Kozhikode: The Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) will launch a campaign create awareness of chikungunya in the wake of the spread of the disease in the State. Kozhikode district secretary T.P. Sreedharan said in a press release here on Tuesday that the KSSP activists would carry out sanitation drives in 500 localities of the district. They would also conduct a door-to-door campaign on Friday. A meeting of the office-bearers pointed out that the lack of cleanliness, plastic menace and unscientific reclamation of paddy fields and hills had resulted in the spread of the chikungunya. KSSP president Mohanan Manalil, A. Achyuthan, I.G. Bhaskara Panikker and V.T. Nazar spoke at the meeting.
