Steps taken to supply rice to FPS: Minister

Locally-produced rice to be made available to people


  • Input subsidy to be credited directly into farmers' accounts
  • More paddy, maize purchase centres to open

    MAHABUBNAGAR : Minister for Agriculture and Civil Supplies N.Raghaveera Reddy said that steps are being taken to supply rice produced in the State to fair price shop dealers so that people will get locally produced rice only.

    Reviewing the agriculture and civil supplies subjects here on Tuesday the Mnister instructed the officials to take necessary steps to credit the amount of input subsidy directly into the account of farmers to avoid middlemen and ensure that subsidy seed reached genuine farmers.

    LPG shortage

    To contain the shortage of LPG, the Minister suggested that the officials and Joint Collector D.Varaprasad adopt online system immediately besides conducting raids in the premises of gas dealers and others.

    The Minister also asked the officials to open more purchase centres for paddy and maize at mandal level and ensure MSP.

    He appreciated the district administration for adopting a better system for remitting the demand drafts by fair price shop dealers by 10th of every month.

    He said that this system would be implemented in entire State.

    Crop loss estimate

    District Collector V.Usha Rani, briefing the Minister about the prevailing drought conditions said that the crop loss was estimated in 9000 hectares and a detailed report would be submitted to the Government by 15th of this month.

    Z.P. Chairperson K.Damodar Reddy, Legislators Puli Veeranna, Jupally Krishna Rao, Yadmakishta Reddy, Ram Mohan Reddy, Swarna Sudhakar Reddy, G.Chinna Reddy, Joint Collector D.Varaprasad, Joint Director Agriculture Nagappa and other officials were also participated.
