TDP demand for health emergency criticised

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has ridiculed the Telugu Desam's demand for declaring medical emergency in the wake of the outbreak of dengue across the State. Four Congress MLAs at a press conference here on Tuesday advised the TDP to refrain from criticising the Government, cooperate in fighting the disease and render help to those suffering from the fever. Rejecting the TDP's allegation that the Government had failed to take steps to mitigate the sufferings of the affected people, G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, MLA, asserted that preventive measures had been launched on a war-footing and the Health Department instructed to tackle the outbreak with utmost care.

He also made light of the charge that human rights of people were being violated by not providing them timely medicare.

He reminded the TDP that during its regime thousands had died due to malaria, gastroenteritis and viral fevers, particularly in the agency areas.
