APSRTC MD to go on deputation

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director M.V. Krishna Rao will soon proceed on Central deputation and take charge as Additional Director-General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), based in Chandigarh.

He will hand over charge to the corporation's Director-Vigilance Lokendra Sharma on Wednesday. He received his posting orders from the State Government on Tuesday. The Government received the order seeking his services on deputation to the CRPF from the Prime Minister's Office on September 27.

When news of Mr. Rao being sought for Central deputation came to the fore a few days ago, it attracted attention as it came at a time when the APSRTC employees' unions had served notice on the management that they would go on strike if their demands, primarily comprising a wage hike, were not met.

Union leaders expressed their regrets that they would lose the opportunity of talks with an officer who was well versed in Telugu and with whom they were very comfortable in their day-to-day transactions.

While Mr. Rao is an Indian Police Service officer of the 1974 batch, Mr. Sharma belongs to the 1980 batch and is also in the rank of Additional DG in the State.
