Thiruvananthapuram: The student wing of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has started a Vector Control Cell to provide sufficient information about chikungunya. The wing will organise awareness programmes. A round-the-clock helpline number (98461 50005) being set up by the will start functioning from October 11, an IMA release said. — Staff Reporter

One killed in accident

Thiruvananthapuram: A lorry crew member was killed on Tuesday when the vehicle rolled backwards on a steep ascent, accidentally running him over. The deceased, identified as Akbar, 42, a native of Palluruthy, Ernakulam, had got out of the vehicle at Karakulam when the accident happened. The body has been kept at the Medical College mortuary. — Staff Reporter
