HYDERABAD: Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday brought an alleged fraudster from Chandigarh to the city and produced him in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Nampally in connection with a cheating case registered against him. Jagdish Arora (57), a native of Haryana, was arrested on Saturday in Chandigarh. Arora and his associates floated "Online Job Work Company Limited" and opened a franchise in the city. He allegedly lured job aspirants, senior citizens and housewives stating that the company was established to provide computer data work through multi-level marketing system. According to the scheme, every person has to send demand draft of Rs.16,500 drawn in favour of the company in Chandigarh to get a membership. Over 12,140 people, including 7,431, from the State had enrolled, police said. After giving an independent distributor number, each member has to enrol other members and only then he would get Rs.5,500 per month. Arora reportedly gave assurances that members would get commission if they enrol more persons. "If a member enrols 100 people, he would get Rs.6.4 lakh and Rs.1crore for enrolling 250 people. After reaching the15th level, Arora said a member would get more than Rs.1 crore and started cheating the people," the police said.
