RTC driver's death triggers protest

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The death of an APSRTC casual driver P. Srinivas in Malkajgiri on Monday night triggered protests on Tuesday with his relatives staging a demonstration at the Ranigunj depot alleging that he took the extreme step due to `harassment' by higher officials.

Police said Srinivas (33) committed suicide by consuming poison at his house in Malkajgiri.

He was reportedly reprimanded by officials for not attending duties for the last five days.

Depressed over this, he ended his life. RTC Regional Manager C. Panduranga Murthy said there was no truth in the allegations.
