NEDUMBASSERY: The airport here, on Monday, dismissed a report that it had lodged a complaint with the Civil Aviation Ministry against appointment of three persons with alleged criminal antecedents as ground handling staff by Air-India, and Airport Director A.C.K. Nair was forced to issue temporary passes to them under political pressure. A statement issued by Mr. Nair termed the report ``baseless,'' and said no complaint had been lodged. Only the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security issued entry passes to airport staff. The director could issue only temporary passes when those from the bureau were delayed. Even then, guidelines laid down by the bureau were followed. These required submission of an application in the prescribed format, along with a recommendation from the agency for which the person worked and no-objection certificate from the police, the statement said. The three persons had their applications in the prescribed format, along with the recommendation from Air-India and certificate from the police.
