ADORING FANS: Cricketer Sreesanth being mobbed by students eager to have his autograph at the St. Michael's Boys High School in Kannur on Wednesday.
KANNUR: Indian cricketer Sreesanth had a busy day here on Wednesday during his visit to the town to attend a few functions, including cricket net practice launched by a club here.
To play aggressively
"I will continue to play cricket aggressively," he said while interacting with media persons after inaugurating the net practice started by the Brothers' Club here in the evening. "I started playing the game because of my passion for it and not for getting selected," he said. Sreesanth visited the Brothers' Club here where he was honoured. Speaking at the function, he said he would do whatever help he could do to boost cricketing tradition in the district. Club president A.P.M. Mayan presented a memento to the player. J.K. Mahendra, former national junior cricket team selector, who accompanied Mr. Sreesanth, recalled the expansive playing grounds and sporting facilities that the town once had. He urged the Brothers Club to revive the facilities to train cricket players. Former All India Football Federation secretary P.P. Lakshmanan was among those present at the function.
Meets footballers
After the inauguration of net practice, he interacted with young football players who thronged the grounds to meet him. Earlier, when he visited St. Michaels' Boys High School here, he was surrounded by students eager to have his autograph. Mr. Sreesanth also attended the fourth Annual Day celebration and award distribution of the Wake Educational Foundation here.
