PALAKKAD : There were 34 new cases of suspected chikungunya fever reported in the district on Wednesday. Out of this, 19 cases were admitted to various hospitals and 15 treated as out patients, the Health Department authorities said. They said 1,339 cases of fever were reported from different parts of the district on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the mosquito eradication programmes was intensified in high-risk areas. The panchayats initiated measures to control mosquitoes. In Attappady, there was awareness campaign and spraying in high-risk areas.
