PALAKKAD: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will lay the foundation stone for a 350-acre Integrated Textile Park promoted by Kerala Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) at the Kanjikode industial area here on November 3. The park is coming up under a Central scheme to have an integrated facility for textile-related industries adjacent to the existing Kinfra Wise Park. Managing Director of Kinfra A.S. Suresh Babu told The Hindu that the infrastructure facilities in the park would be provided by Kinfra. The park can have any industry connected with the textile sector. We are holding discussions with many textile giants. He said the park could also be converted into a Special Economic Zone if the State and Central Governments gave the necessary sanction. The project report of the park is being prepared by India Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Service, an approved agency of the Union Textile Ministry. Meanwhile, a meeting of people's representatives and those connected with the industries has been convened at the Pudussery Grama Panchayat Kalyanamandapam on October 16 to discuss about the proposed park.
