Unit to trace missing persons

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: To trace the details of missing persons and help them reunite with their families, the city police have launched a `missing persons unit' in the police commissionerate.

Inspector of the special branch will monitor the functioning of this unit, which comprises a sub-inspector, a constable each from the east, west and central zones, a woman constable, an armed reserve constable and two home guards.

Missing cases registered in all police stations will be transferred to this unit and the case file will be sent back to the police station concerned only after identifying the missing person.
