Quadri fashions SBH win over India Cements

HYDERABAD: Off-spinner Ahmed Quadri, who had a match-haul of 11 for 169, helped State Bank of Hyderabad record a 43-run win over India Cements in the A-Division (three-day) knockout cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

The scores: A-Division (three-day) knockout: SBH 339 and 198 for nine (M. Srinivas 86, P. Kaushik Reddy five for 105) bt India Cements 263 (Santosh Yadav 64, Samiullah 46, M.P. Arjun 47, Ahmed Quadri four for 91) and 231 for nine (Gautam Reddy 54, Samiullah 43, P. Kaushik Reddy 42, Ahmed Quadri seven for 78).

Andhra Bank 399 for four and 226 for one (Shashank Nag 93 not out, Ibrahim Khaleel 104 not out) bt Ensconse 209 (Nadeem 74 not out, Lakshman Kishore five for 58) and 151 (Ranvir 42, Amil Shinde six for 21).

B-Division league: Dhruv XI 136 for eight (Nagaraju 53, John four for 30) bt Mahmood CC 48 (Shekar four for eight).

Ashwin cracks ton

A century by opener Ashwin Vijay (102 not out, 10x4, 5x6) helped Loyola Academy Junior College score an emphatic, nine-wicket win over Wesley Jr College in the Parle Cup inter-schools (under-17) cricket tournament here.

Parle Cup inter-schools (under-17): St. Peter's HS 219 for five (Ramesh 65, Md. Shabaz 47) bt Don Bosco HS 135 (Md. Fardun 54, Manoj five for 41).

Silver Jubilee Jr. College 61 (Narender four for 10, Sachin four for 13) lost to Mahbub College HS 62 for three (Rama 36).

Bhavans Jr. College `A' 295 (Nitin Kumar 69, L. Abinay 52 not out, B. Narsimha three for 53, Prasana Kumar Reddy 44, M. Ravi Teja 37) bt Red Sun Jr College 147 (S. Naveen 51, J. Siddharth six for 28, U. Ambadas three for 30).

Wesley Jr. College `B' 172 (Kashi Reddy 50) lost to Loyola Jr. College 173 for one (Ashwin Vijay 102 not out).

St. Andrew's advances

St. Andrew's HS `A' entered the semifinals of the Dr. John de Souza prize money football tournament defeating Government High School 1-0 here. The match-winner came through winger Md. Yousuf.

Other results: Valerian Grammar School 2 (Joshua, Nitesh) bt St. Patrick's HS 1 (Revanth).

St. Theresa's 2 (Surender, Chandrakanth) drew with Sherwood Public School 2 (Wasim Maknozia, Shoaib Maknozia).

Inter-school athletics

Hyderabad 10K Foundation will organise the second Mission Sports inter-school athletic meet at the Lal Bahadur Stadium from October 17 to 18, according to Pullela Gopi Chand. The top places in overall championship in boys and girls sections will be sharing Rs.1 lakh cash prize, he added.

The athletic meet features competitions in all events for boys and girls in the age group of 12, 14 and 16 years. About 3000 athletes are expected to compete. Further particulars can be had from Rajesh Kumar, secretary of Hyderabad District Athletic Association on Phone No. 92465 29013.

ICFAI sports meet

ICFAI will organise the third all-India annual sports meet of Icfaitech here from October 21 to 25 at the Lal Bahadur Stadium. Competitions will be held in football, basketball, cricket, athletics, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi and tennis. A total prize money of Rs. 1.5 lakhs is at stake. Women's sports meet
