`Take steps to prevent chikungunya'

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: The 32nd district conference of the Kerala NGO Association began at the NSS auditorium here on Wednesday with district president B. Reghu hoisting the flag.

The conference called upon the State Government to take adequate steps in controlling the spread of chikungunya in the district.

The preventive measures against the epidemic that were adopted in the district were not satisfactory, the conference pointed out.

The spread of the epidemic caused panic in the district.

The conference pointed out that failure on the part of the State Government to settle the work-to-rule strike by Government doctors is one of the causes for the spread of the epidemic.

As such the Government too is responsible for creating the situation, the conference alleged. The conference called upon all association members to join in the preventive exercise against chikungunya.
