CPI(M) blames Parivar for violence

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: The communal violence in Mangalore was part of a larger conspiracy by Sangha Parivar to disturb communal peace in the State and pitch Hindus against Muslims, the district unit of the CPI(M) has said.

Party workers staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioners office on Wednesday in protest against the communal violence in Mangalore.

They alleged that the Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Nagaraj Shetty had extended support to the communal elements.

`Stoic silence'

Addressing the protestors, State Secretariat Members of the party Maruti Manpade and C. Bayyareddy criticised the Janata Dal (Secular) leadership of maintaining a stoic silence over the Mangalore incident. Mr. Manpade said that the BJP and Sangh Parivar members to gain a strong foothold in the State by holding the "Datta Mala" and "Shobha Yatra" in Chikmagalur.
