COLOURFUL: A painting by V.B. Venu
NEW DELHI: A solo painting and drawing exhibition by artist V. B. Venu will open at Travancore Art Gallery here on Kasturba Gandhi Marg this Thursday. It is titled "An Amalgamation of Forms, Contemporary Designs and Myths". Basically the works are beyond any cultural facts or environmental influences of the current era. V. B. Venu's artistic impressions are unique and include narrative elements in a painting. And this gives them a certain surreal quality.
Exhibitions galore
The artist has showcased his pieces of art at numerous solo and group exhibitions across the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. Exhibitions of his paintings have also been held in all major metro cities of the country. His best collections -- numbering over 150 works of art -- have also sold in Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Britain and the US besides India. Venu, who has also provided art direction to various projects including television commercials. He did his postgraduate diploma in drawing and painting and has been an alumnus of the Chaitram Institute of Art in Kochi. A master in amalgam of forms, contemporary designs and myths, his paintings have several layers of meaning. The technical expertise is there for all to see.
Miniatures
Moreover, the works express the rich tradition of Indian miniatures in a most contemporary and personal manner. Delicate and mysterious, the works provide a fascinating combination of the figurative and the symbolic as they blend the richness of colours and luminosity.
