`Amend Police Act'

MAHABUBNAGAR : District Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Rajesh Kumar on Tuesday said the police were getting defamed by the Police Act framed during the British Rule.

He was speaking at an elocution competition on `Human Rights' conducted for police personnel and officers at the District Police Office here. He observed that the Police Act required amendments to suit present day society's needs, adding that efforts in the direction were on. He hoped that the Police Department would serve the people better with the changed Police Act in future.
