NO RESPITE: One scene stands common in all the localities of the city, that of garbage overflowing from bins. Dharam Karan Road, where Health Minister K. Rosaiah resides, also presents a similar picture. PHOTO: SATISH. H
HYDERABAD: Notwithstanding the claims of Municipal authorities over the measures being initiated to remove garbage, complaints of prevailing unhygienic conditions continued to pour in from the nook and cranny of the city, including Dharam Karan road where Health Minister K. Rosaiah lives. While residents of Dharam Karan road complained of garbage being dumped by MCH workers into the open plot next to the lane of Minister's residence, others grumbled that garbage bins were left unclean for weeks together. "There is a misconception that posh localities are maintained well. But despite repeated complaints of garbage overflowing, there has been no action and more so, mosquito menace is the biggest problem in our locality," complained S. Jhansi of Road No. 63, Jubilee Hills. M.K. Chandra Sekhar of Madhuranagar said that the open nala on Road No. 4 and 5 was filled with garbage. It was posing a grave health risk with vegetable trash and filth blocking the flow. If the garbage and dirt were taking over the localities, problem of stray dogs and pigs were making matters even worse for the residents. As K.Badrinath of Chikkadpally complained: "Residents of street No. 5 and 6 in Jawaharnagar are always prone to viral diseases as the overflowing garbage bins make it ideal for the stray dogs and pigs to transform the locality into a den for unhygienic conditions." While unhygienic conditions prevailed in the localities, many residents questioned as to when the MCH authorities would take up fogging activities.
