KOCHI: A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the Kochi Corporation to submit a concrete and comprehensive plan regarding the dumping of garbage after the end of one-month time given by the Naval authorities for using its place for waste dumping. The Bench comprising Chief Justice V.K. Bali and Justice P.R. Raman asked the Corporation to submit the plan by October 16. The directive was issued when a writ petition filed by the Centre for Consumer Education seeking directives for preventing the chikungunya came up for hearing. The court also appointed P.B. Sahasranamam to identify the places in Alappuzha and Kochi where the garbage could be dumped. The corporation in a statement said the authorities of Cochin Port Trust provided dumping places for garbage and waste. However, the Naval authorities refused to provide place for dumping. But after the Chief Minster held discussions with the Vice-Admiral, the Navy granted a place provisionally for dumping.
