Sanitation drive

KOCHI: The month-long sanitation drive organised by the Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC) will be inaugurated on Friday by film actor Suresh Gopi near the High Court Junction. Sebastian Paul, MP, NCP all-India secretary T.P. Peethambaran and former Minister and NCP working committee member A.C. Shanmughadas will take part. — Staff Reporter

`Clean Kerala' drive

KOCHI: The `Suvarna Keralam - Suchithwa Keralam,' (Golden Kerala - Clean Kerala) campaign organised by the YMCA will be inaugurated in Alappuzha on Friday by Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran. Fogging machines will be distributed for the YMCA units at the function. The 430 YMCA units in the State will take part in the sanitation drive and mosquito eradication campaigns organised by the State Government. — Staff Reporter

Free eye camp

KOCHI: Chaitanya Eye Hospital will organise a free eye camp on Thursday at the hospital, situated at Ravipuram. An exhibition on common eye ailments will also be held on the hospital premises, according to hospital authorities. The programme is being organised as part of the observation of World Sight day. — Staff Reporter

Mock drill

KOCHI: A mock drill will be held on the Travancore Cochin Chemicals Ltd. (TCC) factory premises at Udyogamandal between 10.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Thursday. As part of this, a siren will be heard from the factory at this time, according to a press release from the company. The public was requested not to panic when the siren was heard. — Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Building and Road Workers Federation district committee has organised a seminar on preventing the spread of chikungunya and free distribution of medicines. The programmes held at St. Thomas Girls High School, Perumanoor, were inaugurated by State president A.C. Jose. The former Minister Dominic Presentation and others spoke. Students took a cleanliness pledge against the spread of communicable diseases. — Staff Reporter
