Dasara comes alive at school



TRADITIONAL: Students of Sri Vani Education Centre participating in the Dasara festivities.

BANGALORE: Tiny tots of Sri Vani Education Centre, Hanumavana, put up an excellent tableau of the Mysore Dasara on their premises. Various noteworthy features of the State were part of the tableau.

The tradition of the State, including its exclusive food items, heritage sites, the poets who have enriched Kannada and even the erstwhile film stars and politicians found a representation in the procession.

Various dances, such as dollu kunitha, kolata, snake dance, Bharatanatyam and a form of dance from Coorg added colour to the procession.

Children donned as Raja and Rani of Mysore watched the cultural programmes.

Sports meet

LITTLE FLOWER Public School, Basavanagudi, hosted the X Annual Athletic Interschool sports meet for ICSE schools at Sri Kanteerava Stadium recently. Over 28 ICSE schools from all over the State took part in the event.

International weightlifter Sathish Rai declared the sports meet open. K.V. Ravindranath Tagore, Commissioner for Information, was the chief guest at valedictory function and he gave away prizes to the winners.

Mr. Tagore said sports activities were as important as academics. These activities teach a child to accept both success and defeat in equal measure, he said.

Quiz winners

Faizan A.M., Syed Usmaan and Md. Habib Quraishi, students of Florence Public School, emerged winners at an interschool quiz competition conducted by HelpAge India.

Contest

Sindhi High School, Kumarkrupa Road, conducted inter-house co-curricular activities competition recently.

The children from classes six to eight to participated in various competitions such as flower arrangement, clay modelling and kite making.
