Protest in `Gandhigiri' style

Staff Reporter

"The Minister has not paid attention to our plight or infrastructure"

NEW DELHI: Students and resident doctors at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here held a protest in "Gandhigiri" style promoted by the film `Lage Raho Munnabhai' when Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss visited the institute on Wednesday to review medical facilities.

The Minister had gone to the institute, where dengue patients are undergoing treatment, to take stock of the situation.

"We protested with flowers and `get well soon' posters in true Munnabhai's `Gandhigiri' style. The Minister has failed to appreciate the work done by the medical staff during the dengue outbreak and despite being aware of the patient load did not make any effort to improve conditions. The institute has handled more cases than it possibly could, catering to patients not just from Delhi but also nearby States, " said a senior physician of AIIMS Binod Patro.
