Karimnagar
K. M. Dayashankar
KARIMNAGAR: Defying hardships in his own life, C. Veera Madhav, a resident of Ganeshnagar, has been providing food and shelter to orphans and senior citizens. Running just a car painting and repair shop, it has been hard for Mr. Madhav to shoulder the burden of taking care of his family of four. But that did not stop him from starting an orphanage called Veera Brahmendra Orphanage in a rented building at Housing Board Colony on the outskirts of Karimnagar town some three years ago.
Facilities
Despite a tight schedule, he visits the orphanage everyday in the morning and evening. He provides the inmates with all facilities such as cots, beds, a cook-cum-watchman and a dhobi. He also provides food and medical assistance with the help of local doctors and medical representatives. Recently, the Mahadevpur police had brought a mentally unsound pregnant orphan to the orphanage for delivery. The Sub-Inspector had given Mr. Madhav money to meet her medical expenses . Soon after the woman delivered a baby boy, a family came forward to adopt the child.Mr. Madhav told The Hindu , "Initially my family was opposed to my interest in the orphanage stating that we ourselves were not any better off. But I was reluctant to give up and continued to run the orphanage. Nothing will stop me in my mission to serve the poor and orphans.''Mr. Madhav's ambition is to establish a permanent orphanage for the aged in Karimnagar town.
