ANANTAPUR: One of the accused in the Paritala Ravindra murder case K. Ramamohan Reddy on Thursday pleaded to the court here that he and his family members were facing threat to their lives from his co-accused in the case and their supporters outside, after he had expressed willingness to turn an approver. He urged the court to provide police protection to his family members as they had been receiving threatening calls regularly from the supporters of his co-accused in the case. Or else, he urged the court, to grant him bail so that he could protect his family members. In the absence of District Judge K. Gaddenna the case was heard in the Additional Sessions Court on Thursday. In his oral plea to Additional Sessions Judge V. Chandrasekharan, Ramamohan Reddy also requested the court to shift him to a jail where none of his co-accused in the case were lodged, as his co-accused lodged along with him in the same jail in Hyderabad were threatening him. The judge opined Ramamohan Reddy should be allowed to speak to the CBI, the investigating agency, because to turn an approver in the case could be taken only after hearing him personally. He would be heard on November 2, the judge told the accused. He also pleaded the court to direct the police in Hyderabad not to handcuff him while being taken to hospital for treatment. All 13 accused in the case were produced in the court on Thursday. While G. Surayanarayana Reddy alias Suri is lodged in the district jail at Reddypalli near here, the other 12 accused -- J. Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Sreenu, V. Hanumantha Reddy, T. Konda Reddy, P. Narayana Reddy, V. Rekhamaiah, V. Kondanna, V. Sreenivasulu, B. Ranganayakulu, M. Obi Reddy, T. Peddi Reddy, G. Venkateswar Reddy and K. Ramamohan Reddy -- were brought from Charlapalli and Chanchalaguda jails in Hyderabad. They were taken back to Hyderabad after the hearing.
Remand extended
The judge also extended the remand of the accused to November 2. The case of three other accused named in the supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI in the same case are yet to taken to the Sessions Court. While B. Ramaswamy and U. Anandkumar Reddy are in the remand, P. Goverdhan Reddy is eluding the CBI. In separate petitions, all the accused, except Ramamohan Reddy, urged the court to allow them to meet their family members and also talk among themselves. CBI counsel Suryanarayana objected to second plea stating that speaking among themselves would divert the case. The judge, however, allowed them to speak to their family members only.
