It's Fernandes' old game, says Gehlot
Special Correspondent
JAIPUR:
Congress general secretary Ashok Gehlot said here on Thursday that the National Democratic Alliance convener George Fernandes was resorting to his old game of pointing a finger at the tallest leader of the Congress when cornered. "Mr. Fernandes used to do it with Indira Gandhi and now he is doing it with Congress president Sonia Gandhi," he said.
Mr. Gehlot was reacting to Mr. Fernandes' charge that Ms. Gandhi was behind the CBI filing an FIR against him in connection with alleged irregulatrities in the Barak missile deal with Israel.
"The Congress president is too dignified to get into a personal vendetta against anyone. She does not have the time or the inclination for such acts. Moreover, she is not a negative person," Mr. Gehlot said."Long back, as a trade union leader Mr. Fernandes could boast of his socialist commitment and the support derived out of it. But of late, almost all his old friends and close associates have deserted him leaving him in the company of the Sangh Parivar," Mr. Gehlot said referring to Mr. Fernandes' threat to launch a stir against the CBI move.
