Congress names Rajashree Singh as nominee for Vidisha

NEW DELHI: The Congress announced the candidature of Rajashree Rudra Pratap Singh as its nominee for the Vidisha Lok Sabha by-election, necessitated due to the resignation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Ms. Singh, wife of the former MLA Rurda Pratap Singh, has been a Zila Parishad member. The party also announced that Jagdish Shukla would re-contest the Malhera Assembly by-poll following the resignation of Uma Bharti. Mr. Shukla had lost to Ms. Bharti in the 2003 assembly polls. Prafulla Majhi will be the candidate at Talsara assembly constituency.
