New arrivals, prime attraction

TIRUCHI: A whole range of new arrivals are the prime feature at the 14-day exhibition organised by the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited's Poompuhar, here from October 6.

A variety of `sungidi' sarees from Madurai, bedcovers and quills from Rajasthan, artistic plates from Thanjavur, brass lamps, sandalwood carvings and brass carved items from Moradabad are being displayed.

This apart, pearl, corals and stone-studded bangles, ear hangings, bracelets and other accessories are exhibited to choose from. There are also huge displays of amulets, charms, trinkets, precious and lucky stones from Jaipur, New Delhi, necklaces made of American diamonds, `navaratna' jewelleries and ornaments made of imported stones.

On the exhibition's sale, the Manager of Poompuhar, L. Sargunam, said the target has been fixed at Rs. four lakh and a discount of 10 per cent will be given to all products.
