GULBARGA: Newly appointed president of the District Congress Committee Allam Prabhu Patil said on Wednesday that the new set of office-bearers of the district unit of the party would be announced soon in consultation with senior party leaders including Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge, former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly N. Dharam Singh. Speaking to presspersons after visiting the party office for the first time after his appointment, Mr. Patil said he had the support of all party leaders in the district and was confident of giving the required impetus to the party to gain its prime place in the district's politics and keep at bay communal forces. He said the party was gearing up to face the city Corporation election which was due shortly and he would hold discussions with all senior leaders of the party to draw the line of action of the party for the Corporation elections. Mr. Patil said the party would soon be presenting a memorandum to district in-charge Minister Sharanabasappa Dharshanapur for speeding up the process of the payment of compensation to those who lost their crops and houses in the floods in Afzalpur, Jewargi, Chitapur, Yadgir and Shahapur taluks and take up drought relief works in the district. He criticised the coalition State Government for not releasing funds to the district to pay compensation to farmers who had lost their crops in the floods .
