Becomes richer



Zhang Yin

BEIJING: Zhang Yin, who became a household name on Wednesday morning with topping a recent list of China's richest people, is a billion yuan wealthier by the afternoon. Reports of her massive wealth were printed in morning newspapers on Wednesday and before markets closed that afternoon, share prices of Ms. Zhang's Guangdong-based Nine Dragons Paper Industries Co., Ltd. jumped 2.77 per cent, adding an extra 1.1 billion yuan ($139 million) to her assets. Ms. Zhang, the 49-year-old founder and chairwoman of the paper company, was reported to be China's richest person with a fortune of $3.4 billion. She is believed to be the wealthiest self-made woman in the world. She is richer than U.S. television host Oprah Winfrey and author of the Harry Potter series J.K. Rowling. — Xinhua
