Rupee posts further gains

MUMBAI: The rupee on Thursday rose further against the U.S. currency on increased dollar sales and closed at 45.6125/6200 a dollar.

After a fresh fall in global oil prices to the year's lowest level, banks resorted to heavy dollar sales on behalf of oil PSUs which strengthened the rupee, dealers said.

The Indian unit resumed higher at 45.59/60 and rose further to a high of 45.5700. Later, it closed to 45.6125/6200 against Wednesday's close of 45.64/65.— PTI
