Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday told officials of various departments that there should not be any delay in furnishing information sought by the people living in far-flung areas of the State from government agencies and efforts must be made to take it to their doorsteps. Mr. Kumaraswamy was speaking after launching the first-ever `Good Governance' magazine, a monthly by the Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology and Global Infomedia. The Chief Minister said that the Government has launched "Nemmadi," a private public partnership (PPP) for setting up tele centres at 800 places to provide 42 services such as issuing birth, death and caste certificates from the Revenue Department at the hobli level by February next year. The tele centre is a single unified e-procurement platform. In his message to the magazine, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that his Government had decided to implement the Statewide area networks (SWAN) project on a priority basis to connect various departments at the taluk, district and State levels. It would connect 1,500 offices in the State. Under the Food Computerisation project, computerised ration cards would be provided to more than 120 lakh families. He said that the project similar to BangaloreOne would be extended to all district headquarters and was being replicated in Hubli-Dharwad. This would be implemented in Mangalore, Mysore and Belgaum this fiscal.
