Meeting on adolescent health, development organised

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: To sensitise policy makers towards the problems that adolescents face, the National Progressive Schools' Conference along with Expressions India organised the first Adolescent Summit here on Wednesday.

The participants hoped to contribute to adolescent health and development by reviewing existing information and services in the country and identifying gaps that need to be filled.

Focusing on different aspects of adolescent life, the seminar had five symposiums prepared, conducted and presented by students of 40 schools in and around the Capital. From the stress of school and grades to the taboo subject of reproductive and sexual health, the symposium sought to give policy-makers food for thought about what teenagers feel about the policies.

There was also a symposium on the education system in India, substance abuse and mental health.
