New Delhi: One of Delhi's most happening places -- Dilli Haat -- is abuzz these days with the culture and flavour of Uttaranchal. On display are exquisite works of handicraft and products from the cottage industry of the hill State. And visitors can also savour exquisite delicacies of Uttaranchal and dance to the tunes of its folk artistes at the venue. The 14-day exhibition -- Uttaranchal Utsav -- was inaugurated by the State Government's Resident Commissioner Rajiv Gupta on Tuesday. The idea behind the event is to give exposure to Uttaranchal's artistes and skilled workers and find a market for their products not only in India about also in the international market. "For our artistes and those involved in the cottage industry, it is a golden opportunity to showcase their products at a place that is popular among both domestic and international tourists," said Mr. Gupta, adding that the event would also attract a large number of natives of Uttaranchal living in and around the Capital. On display are woollens and other items prepared by skilled handloom weavers, brass utensils from Almora, showpieces of ringal (a thin variety of bamboo), wooden artefacts from Mussoorie and exquisite candles from Nainital.
