NEW DELHI: Taking the modernisation process of Delhi airport a step further, the Delhi International Airport Private Limited (DIAL) has appointed Parsons Brinckerhoff International project management consultants for the project. Based in America, Parsons Brinckerhoff has been involved as consultant at a number of international airports including Hong Kong International Airport, London Heathrow as well as Terminal I at JFK Airport. Bringing together a team of international and Indian experts, the company will help DIAL establish project control systems, procedure manuals, communication platforms and protocols. It will also help them in creating report formats and computer systems. The company will assist DIAL in reviewing design, contract management as well as construction management of the Passenger Terminal Building. DIAL, which recently submitted the Master Plan for modernisation of Delhi airport, will create a brand new integrated passenger terminal to cater to both international and domestic air traffic. This terminal should be operational by the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and will be equipped to handle more than 37 million passengers per year. Connected to the sky as well as the ground, the integrated terminal will be linked to the city through the Metro railway. Parson Brinckerhoff has been involved with providing programme management services in the Delhi Metro Phase I, Delhi Metro Phase II as well as the Swami Vivekananda Bridge on the Hooghly river in Kolkata.
