ALAPPUZHA: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the Rabbit Plus project of the State Bank of Travancore at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Angel King Auditorium, Pathirappally. The project, to be implemented by the Rabbit Breeders' Association with the cooperation of the State Animal Husbandry Department, proposes to distribute Rs. 6 crore as loans to entrepreneurs to breed rabbits. Minister for Food and Animal Husbandry C. Divakaran will preside over the function. Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac will inaugurate the distribution of loans to entrepreneurs. K.S. Manoj , MP, will distribute the insurance policy of the association to rabbit breeders. K.C. Venugopal, MLA, will distribute rabbits to the entrepreneurs. K.B. Devadas Thampi, district animal husbandry officer and chairman of the reception committee, said a seminar and exhibition of rabbits, goats and domestic fowls would be held at the venue on the day. The seminar and exhibition would begin at 10 a.m. E. Nanu, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Thrissur, will inaugurate the seminar. Experts on animal sciences will present papers at the seminar.
