Progressive ruling?

This refers to the Supreme Court's ruling that sexual intercourse with a girl on the false promise of marriage is rape (Oct. 5). The Court has propounded a new theory of implied non-consent. This is not sound. If a person cheats a girl by promising to marry her, he is liable to be prosecuted for cheating, not rape.

If the serious charge of rape is stretched to such a fantastic extent as interpreted by the Supreme Court, the possibilities of its misuse will be many.
