CPI fields Gaya Singh in Nalanda

NEW DELHI : The Communist Party of India is fielding the former MP Gaya Singh in the November 6 Nalanda Lok Sabha by-election in Bihar.

Mr. Singh, who earlier represented Bihar in the Rajya Sabha, will contest the seat vacated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The party finalised his candidature earlier this week, CPI Lok Sabha Deputy Leader S. Sudhakar Reddy said here on Friday.

CPI(M) in Bhagalpur

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is fielding Subodh Ray in the Bhagalpur Lok Sabha by-election. He won the seat in 1999 and lost to Sushil Kumar Modi of the BJP in 2004. Mr. Modi, Deputy Chief Minister in the Nitish Kumar Government, resigned the seat during May this year.
