FIRST LOOK: TTD Trust Board Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy and member O.V. Ramana at the preview of the tele-serial in Tirupati on Friday.
TIRUPATI: A preview of the prestigious tele-serial -- `Om Namo Venkatesaya' -- was held at the TTD administrative building here on Friday. It may be noted here that the TTD is funding the mega project to popularise the Lord of seven hills in the Hindi heartland by telecasting the 365-episode serial in Doordarshan for a full year. The crew has already completed five full episodes, while content pertaining to 20 episodes await final editing. It is at this stage that the preview was staged in the presence of scholars, litterateurs and the media for a `mid-term review' of the content, presentation of facts, narration style etc. Director Dharmesh Tiwari plays the key role of Narada in the serial. TTD chairman B. Karunakar Reddy, board member O.V. Ramana, Financial advisor Anita Shah Akella, Drusya Sravana Project director R. Ananta Padmanabha Rao, DPP member Venkata Sarma, besides scores of litterateurs and scholars attended.
Lack of coordination
The preview of the first two episodes exposed the apparent lack of coordination between the script writers and the production crew, who are `not so familiar' with the mythological aspects of Tirumala. Mr. Reddy opined that the `divine feel' was missing in some areas while the scholars pointed out some aberrations in mythology and faulty pronunciation. It was also suggested to pep up the title song so that it reflected the divine fervour.
