House panel to visit Krishna district

MACHILIPATNAM: House Committee of the State Legislative Assembly will be visiting Krishna district on October 16 to inquire into charges relating to properties of educational institutions of Christian missionaries and also to receive representations. The committee will receive representations from Christian missionaries from 10 a.m. at Vijayawada. The committee will discuss with district Collector and other officials on protection of properties belonging to Christian missionaries in the district, according to a press release.

YSR's visit

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be visiting the district headquarter town on October 29.

District Collector Navin Mittal convened a special meeting on Thursday and reviewed the arrangements.

Dr. Reddy would review various developmental works and Indiramma programme with officials and elected representatives in the district and make a night halt here.

Kaikulur MLA Y. Raja Ramachandar expressed dissent over "non-cooperation" of some officials and their "failure" in consulting him with regard to development and welfare activities in his constituency. Stating that he would inform the Chief Minister about the indifferent attitude of officials, he protested by walking out of the meetingleaving his colleagues, including Higher Education Minister P. Venkateswara Rao, MLAs Buddha Prasad, Udaya Bhanu, Devineni Nehru and others.
