THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State general secretary of the Janata Dal (S) Varughese George has described as not based on facts the reports that Morarji Desai had blocked the conferring of official honours posthumously on Jayaprakash Narayan. In a rejoinder here on Saturday he described the reports as cooked up stories to tarnish the image of the former Prime Minister. He pointed out that it was when Morarji Desai was attending Parliament on March 22, 1979 that the officials conveyed the wrong news about JP's demise to him. He immediately informed Parliament about it. When he learnt that it was wrong news, he immediately apologised to the nation. Special Correspondent
