KOCHI: The total business of Union Bank of India has crossed Rs.1,40,000 crores as of September, 2006. The bank is spreading its roots globally and has planned to open branches at Doha and Hong Kong apart from representative offices in Dubai and Shanghai. The branch network has crossed 2100 and has customer base of over 15 million, a press release said. As many as 806 villages have been brought under its programme to inculcate banking habit among villagers, according to the bank.
